Right around the time a barrel of oil was around $150 USD I stumbled upon an article from an "expert" saying that the solution to resolve hunger was to give more money to poor countries in order to buy more tractors and more agrochemicals! So wrong! Then a thought popped into mind: " Do something! No matter what! Anything is better than nothing! ". Mission: increasing awareness of hydroponics and aquaponics as key tools in fighting hunger around the world.

Hello everyone! How I got into hydroponics is a long story...let's just say that it involves a lot of tedious farm work as a child, unsuccessful 'dirt' gardens of my own and a near electrocution from a semi-submersible hydroponic pump. I've learned that hydroponic gardening is the only way to garden for me and I've been working at it for several years now. Why the hydroponics aquaponics aquaculture Ponics directory is so unique?
I admit it! I always loved directories! In fact I am addicted to directories since I found the best php link directory script on the market! Support outstanding! So it was quiet logical that I decided to add a directory to the Ponics Organization!
Links are handpicked
Between you and me I have a script that could fetch hundreds of links automatically and on a press of a button, load them in one shot to the Ponics Directory. Not my style! I Will never do that! The Ponics Directory is unique because I pick links one by one! I surf the Net, hunt groups, read Google News and when I find something that is "worth" to keep, then, and only then, I add it to the Ponics Directory.
No rush to built the directory
I have no rush, no pressure and no deadline. Bear in mind that this is a non profit organization and in terms of human resources it is a little bit understaffed! Process is slow I admit it! Maybe this is the price to pay if your goal is to build the most accurate links directory about hydroponics, aquaponics and aquaculture on the Net!
The power of the cross-referenced categories
Categories are categories right! Well! Not really! Let's say that you have an aquaponics web site that :
offers consultation services in aquaponics
have a free electronic magazine about aquaponics
have a forum about aquaponics
sell aquaponics equipment
In what category would you add such a site? In the "Aquaponics" category! That's it! I don't think so! That will be the easy solution but certainly not the best option for users! ! Here is what I normally do in such a case (and it happens often):
add it to the "Aquaponics Consultation Services" category
add it to the " Magazines About Aquaponics" category
add it to the "Forums On Aquaponics" category
add it to the "Aquaponics Yellow Pages" category
As you can see, the Ponics Directory is anything BUT a link farm! Google hates links farms and me too!
