Productos Hidroponicos de Panamá, S.A. was founded by Ing. Juan Enrique González in 1999 for the purpose of providing locally grown, high quality vegetables to the people of Panama. Prior to 1999 such items as Romaine lettuce, Butter lettuce and Swiss hard were only available as imports, generally at high cost and reduced quality due to damage from shipping. Now these
vegetables are available from the greenhouses of Productos Hidroponicos located above Boquete in the farming community of Alto Quiel.
