Right around the time a barrel of oil was around $150 USD I stumbled upon an article from an "expert" saying that the solution to resolve hunger was to give more money to poor countries in order to buy more tractors and more agrochemicals! So wrong! Then a thought popped into mind: " Do something! No matter what! Anything is better than nothing! ". Mission: increasing awareness of hydroponics and aquaponics as key tools in fighting hunger around the world.

Hello everyone! How I got into hydroponics is a long story...let's just say that it involves a lot of tedious farm work as a child, unsuccessful 'dirt' gardens of my own and a near electrocution from a semi-submersible hydroponic pump. I've learned that hydroponic gardening is the only way to garden for me and I've been working at it for several years now. I've built ebb/flow, nft, Mittleider, wick and passive systems and I'm always on the lookout for the easiest and most efficient means of hydroponic gardening...If you have questions, I would be more than happy to answer them...
Hydro for Hunger is a non-profit, collaborative program designed to generate aid from specific product sales through participating hydroponics companies.
Hydro for Hunger is an initiative by participating independent hydroponic merchants in support of hunger relief organizations including the Institute for Simplified Hydroponics (ISH). ISH is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing world hunger through the power of hydroponic gardening. Using interactive Internet-based training programs, the Institute for Simplified Hydroponics helps provide people in developing
countries with the knowledge and tools to become self-sufficient through simple, small-scale hydroponic food production techniques.
The goals of the ISH are achievable, and with assistance from you the results could be revolutionary. Learn more about Hydro For Hunger!

Besides death, chronic malnutrition also causes impaired vision, listlessness, stunted growth and greatly increased susceptibility to disease. Severely malnourished people are unable to function at even a basic level. (United Nations World Food Programme)
In a recent survey, AARP found that 59% of Americans ages 65 or older reported having more trouble paying for food, gas and medicine.

2 billion people suffer from hidden hunger, micronutrient deficiencies caused by poor diet, even when they consume adequate calories and protein. Hidden hunger compromises the immune system, increasing rates of disease and infection. (UN WFP, 2007) 862 million people do not have enough to eat - more than the populations of USA, Canada and the European Union combined. (FAO & The State of Food Insecurity in the World, 2006)
Review: This organization has the same goals than mine: promoting the use of hydroponics to solve hunger. I was unable to see where are the headquarters of the organization. Rated 5 ..because it is an important site (I mean the gola is important).
